I never use this thing so I figured I should have some fun with it. I deleted a couple questions and I don't feel like renumbering the thing so that's why there's dashes. Anyways, if you're bored, have at it:
What Would You Do If I? - (2) said i liked you: (3) kissed you: (4) lived next door to you: (5) started smoking haha: - - (8) ran away from home: (9) got into a fight and you weren't there:
What Do You Think About My: (1) Personality: (2) Eyes: (4) Hair: (5) Clothes:
Other: (1) Who are you? - (3) When and how did we meet? (4) How have I affected you? (5) What do you think of me? (6) What's the fondest memory you have of me? (7) How long do you think we will be friends? - (9) Have I ever hurt you? (10) Would you hug me? (11) Would you kiss me? (12) Emotionally, what stands out? -- (14) On a scale of 1-10, how rad am I? (15) Give me a nickname and why you picked it. -- (17) How long have you known me? (18) Describe me in one word. (19) What was your first impression of me? (20) Do you still that way about me now? (21) What do you think my weakness is? (22) Do you think I'll get married? (23) What about me makes you happy? (24) What about me makes you sad? (25) What reminds you of me? (26) What's something you would change about me? (27) How well do you know me? (28) Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't? (29) Do you know me well? (30) Are you going to put this on your xanga/whatever and see what I say about you? (31) Would you date me? (32) What do you wanna do the most with me?
Haha I'm so bored. I jacked this from Nikkie by the way.

I finally got off my ass and set up this scanner that's been sitting in a closet for a long time. So then I scanned a bunch of my prints that I had with me. Instead of posting all the prints here, this is a link to the folder on webshots:

So who's all doing this prom thing? And how expensive is it exactly? I just know it's really expensive. I sorta want to go, but something tells me it isn't really going to be worth it.
Oh and my mom set me up on a semi-blind date for this weekend. Yeah, my mom, I love it. So does anybody want to hang out with me and some random girl from St. Louis this weekend? haha, should be fun.

Okay so, Randy got kicked out again. This time it's in the middle of the school year so he almost for sure won't be coming back until the end of school. He didn't even do anything wrong, his mom said it was for "nothing specific". I was hanging out with him until his dad came and then his parents were packing his bags into the car and shit while his stepdad was trying to make small talk with me. I just don't get it... I don't get how anyone can do that to another person, let alone their own son. "Hey let's throw our kid in the middle of the fucking boonies away from all civilization and all his friends, what an awesome idea!". Anyways I'm already planning a road trip, so anybody interested can probably come along.
SAVE RANDY guys.

Why? I honestly want to know. If you are conservative and/or voted for Bush this election, I want to know. I'm not going to make a big deal about this whole thing, but I encourage any republicans out there to leave a comment about why you voted for Bush. Leave it anonymously or anything, it doesn't matter. Just please don't give any vague responses like "because he's a great leader" or "because he's the right man for the job". Just give me something good he's done for the country, or some policy of his that has helped us. Anything solid, just tell me. I want to be optimistic, I want to understand. But I can't. Just can't.

I don't know how many of you have heard of this, but I heard about it a few days ago and it made me furious so I wanted to share it:
About a month ago Daniel Buckel and his girlfriend were riding on a motorcycle in Waukesha when they ran into saran wrap that was wound really tight across the road. They crashed into it and got some deep cuts on their faces and Daniel got a broken finger. A few days later, three 16 year olds and one 14 year old turned themselves in for doing the prank. They were very cooperative with the police and very remorseful. Speaking about the pranksters and their families, Daniel said "They're going to see that it's going to cost these kids severely" for their injuries and time missed from work.
When I first heard of that, I thought it was completely justified. A stupid prank that hurt people and the kids deserved to punished for it, right? Well, I just heard about this:
8 years ago on the same day of the crash, Daniel was driving drunk and crashed into a pickup truck, killing the driver and the passenger. Showing extreme kindness and compassion, the family of the 2 people killed pleaded with the judge to be lenient with Daniel, so the judge let him off with the minimum sentence.
So... Daniel kills 2 people in probably the stupidest and most meaningless way possible and barely gets punished thanks to a family with wonderfully soft hearts. Now he gets a broken finger and a few scars on his face and wants to sue the 4 families. The quote above was the only one I could find, but I know he's been quoted for saying things like "I'm going to sue [the families and children] for all they're worth". He basically wants to destroy these 4 families for a stupid mistake the children made while he made the stupidest mistake humanly possible 8 years ago and was pretty much let off the hook. Not only is that fucking disgusting, but on top of it he wasn't wearing a helmet when he crashed so most of the scars are pretty much his fault. When I heard and thought about this, I seriously got ill to my stomach. What a fucking disgrace to humanity. I can only hope karma catches up with him and gives him the worst life possible.
Maybe I just have some extreme hate for drunk drivers so that's affecting my perception of the whole thing, but I don't know. It's just so fucking frustrating.
Comments/thoughts/stories/rants welcome and encouraged.

Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights |

Soccer has been hell but also tons of fun. After sitting on my ass for most of the summer, my body wasn't ready to run at all. It's been getting easier and more enjoyable though now that we're done with most of the conditioning and silly drills. As a team I think we're looking pretty good. A couple of the new freshmen are douches, but for the most part they're cool.
Thanks to the people that did the commenting thing. I've been thinking about things, and there's two things I want to say. First, if you want to hang out more or be better friends or what not... I know that I'm partly at fault for not hanging out or not being a great friend, but if you want to hang out more or whatever, just let me know! It goes both ways. Call me, tell me you want to hang out or just chat or anything. Seriously, unless you're one of about 5 people in this world whom I really hate, which I'm positive none of you are, chances are that I DO want to hang out and be better friends with you.
Second... the man-whore thing has come up a lot recently and it's really starting to bother me because in my eyes being a player/pimp/man-whore is not cool. I'll be open about it - in the past year, my entire Sophmore year, I made out with 3 girls, 2 of whom I dated. I know I'm not the most innocent, prude or reserved teenage guy out there, but I don't really consider that being a whore. I guess that's all up to interpretation and everyone's own morals and standards though, so I won't argue that one. If people think I'm a man-whore because of the hugging thing, which most do, I have to set this straight. If I hug you, it does NOT mean I'm hitting on you, it just means you're my friend. Seriously. As my close friends know, I hug the guys just as much as I hug the girls (and no, I'm not gay or bi). Nearly everytime I see Charlie, Jordy, Andy, Dave, Randy, Wally, Alex or Ari I give them a hug. It's really NOT a sexual thing at all. I usually just feel a hell of a lot more comfortable giving a friend a hug instead of a lame and distant handshake and smile. Touchy-feely? I suppose, if you want to call it that, but definitely not "whore".
Sorry for the long explanation, stuff like that just gets at me sometimes. Anyways, if you commented on my journal and you're comfortable enough to talk to me about it, you should, because I'd like to know who you are so I CAN be a better friend and hang out and all that.

Well anyways I'm helping my friend start an indie band called 'Go-go Gadget Rock Band!'. Haha, I'll be playing bass and it's looking really promising. My friend is good friends with people from Box Social and Doom Buggy and we're getting promised some pretty kickass shows, so I'm excited. Not sure if I can be in it permanately because of my dedication to SPB but I'm really really pumped for this. I guess we've already got 4 songs in the bag and we're starting practices next week. I'll post about our first show when I get word. Ahhh, fun fun fun!

I'm not even going to try and list all the great things that happened in DC, there's just too many. All I can say is that I love and miss all of you pages so much, really.
Being home is nice. Saw almost everyone again, Randy's back in town, Pizza Shuttle is doing well haha. Having a license = freedom, which is really cool too. I saw Kerry speak the other day, he was pretty solid. Still have no idea what he's going to do about the war, just that he won't let it happen again. Oh, and that he won the silver star and purple heart and everything 39023084 times. Yay politicians. Anyways that was good to see.
Jammed with Danny today, wrote a little bit. Band's doing well, Bryce has learned most of the bass parts and Danny and I have the guitars covered, we just need to practice with Brandon soon who gave up drums for skateboarding or something silly like that. Oh well, I think he's still just mad about the Battle. In any case, we've got recording coming up soon in Osh Kosh; Danny's AWESOME brother Kevin is paying for us to record at some place up there. We also have the block party coming up on the 14th which everyone is invited to - it'll be somewhere up in Brown Deer, no cost of course, just a little jamming and a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll be prepared for that and have a solid set but we haven't all practiced together in a LONG time so we don't really know how that's going to turn out. I can always hope for the best though.

Rumors being spread by fellow pages |

So I'm in the dorms in DC and figured I'd update while I have the chance here in the computer room. It's been absolutely awesome so far, I met so many awesome people. I'm rooming with one cool liberal, one cool conservative and one really really really sheltered and weird conservative. Last night we took our spare matress, put it on the floor next to the weird conservative's bed and dumped the dude off his bed onto the matress while he was sleeping. He slapped all of us, but I got a good picture out of it, I'll post it later. We've woken him up about 10 times in similar fashions since we got here.
Work is sweet. Congressmen swear at each other and at the Speaker all the time. Being on the floor while it's in session is like watching a group of first graders at recess. All of them are nice as hell though. I had a conversation with this one congressman named Honda from California for like a half hour on the floor the other day. They all kickass, especially Jesse Jackson Jr. This one page during the last summer session handwrote a note to Jesse Jackson Jr because he was smoking on the House floor. He wrote something like "I will pass legislation to stop you from smoking or if there are reprocussions on my health from your smoking, I will sue you etc.". He gave this fuckin note to the Speaker WHILE the House was in session. The Speaker then had to give the note to Jesse Jackson who proceeded to cuss this kid out and threaten to shove his foot up his ass. There are so many beautiful stories like that over here. This one annoying page told my uncle to put away his cellphone when he was on the floor and my uncle told him to shut the hell up. So priceless.
As far as postcards go, I'm having a little trouble sending them cause of the post office and stamps and weird shit, but no worries, they'll be on their way soon. I hope everyone is having an awesome July, much love to you all!

Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Impression That I Get |
] |
Last Sunday was finally the Brass Bell BOTB. So many long practices and preperation went into it and it ended up being incredible. Getting up on stage and hearing so many people cheer has got to be one of the best feelings in the world. Thanks SO much to everyone who came out, you are the people that made it so awesome! Anyways we just played to have fun. All the stress slowly melted away with the heat of the spotlights and we were just jumping all over the place and rockin out... I had such a great time, I can't even explain... I don't think there was one second where I wasn't smiling.
So we played 3rd out of 8 and after a long few hours, everyone was finally done and it was time for the judging. Before the battle, we figured the bands who would place would be us, Three Blocks To Murdock (a ska band) and Bottoms Up (some jam band). Our prediction was pretty much accurate except some country/Dave Matthews-ish band ended up suprising everybody and taking second. So, Three Blocks got 1st, IALDAR got 2nd, Bottoms Up got 3rd and we fell right behind Bottoms Up in 4th. Places don't really matter to us though, we still had a fuckin rockin time and we got plenty of great feedback from the judges and other kids there. Some of the judges were assholes but we didn't get below a 7/10 in any category from any judge, so that made up for some of the whack comments from a couple of them. Either way, thanks again to everyone who came out and got in the pit for us, it's such a wonderful feeling to see that when you're on stage. Also massive props and thanks to Three Blocks and The Remnants for being so friendly and supportive of us and all the other bands. Such good music, such great people! In retrospect, even though we didn't place, I'm just glad that Three Blocks won it because they really deserved it and that I had the opportunity to experience a night like that. Thanks everyone!

Filter - Take a Picture |
] |
After dinner with the family tonight, Christine was pretty crunk so her and I headed over to some bar for a smoke (gotta love my stepmom). Then we went to our first ever kirtan together at the presbytarian church next to Walgreens on Oakland. Kirtan is pretty hard to explain, but to sum it up... it's this ancient east Indian ritual where a band with some singers leads a group in chants. The singers will chant some mantra and then the crowd repeats it, over and over and over. The chants start really slow, eventually building up until they're like 3 times their normal tempo with the band full out jammin. Then everything slows down again, ending in complete silence for a few minutes. The point of it is to put the crowd in a really deep trance and state of meditation. Anyways, it was absolutely INCREDIBLE, I can't even begin to explain it. At times I felt completely "stoned" and out of myself without a single drug in my body. It's just amazing what meditation can do to you if you're fortunate enough to get really deep in it. If anybody is interested in this sort of thing, let me know, it happens the first friday of every month. If you're open minded at all, chances are you'd enjoy it, it's a beautiful thing to experience.
So afterwards, I headed over to Rochambo with Christine, Anita and her mom. When I met Anita's mom last night and she hugged me after only knowing me for like 5 minutes, I thought 'man, she's pretty much a carbon copy of Christine'. And, it turns out, after having coffee together, her and Christine completely clicked, it was awesome. So, as Anita and I search for a table, we ask these 2 girls if we could borrow some chairs, but instead they just invited us to sit with them. It turns out one of the girls was in the kirtan band. It was wonderful, we had a really fun conversation with them. After a good hour or two there, we headed home. Ah, Rochambo is starting to hold such sweet memories for me. I wish everyday could be as great as today and yesterday, seriously.

Even though I freaked out and ended up telling a lot of people about this, I'm still going to have to post about it in here because I'm so hyper and happy:
So I was chillin in the library with Charlie awhile back during study hall or something and I noticed a poster about a poetry contest. I didn't think much about it at the time, but I figured for shits and giggles I'd enter it. I copied down the address and everything and sent in one of my poems after I got home. Well now, a good 3 or 4 months later, I get a letter in the mail. The poem got chosen and I'M GETTING PUBLISHED. This contest thing is also a lot bigger than I had thought before too; I guess it's a contest that includes the entire great lakes/midwest region. So this is just great, I'm absolutely ecstatic, I can't even explain!
The rest of the day was just amazing too. School was... school... but the tennis match ended up being a shitload of fun. Ray made Alex and I play 22 doubles games in a row, which got bloody tiring. It was great though because the matches were really close. Tennis is a lot more fun when you're not getting completely destroyed every game you play. After that, I quick got showered and changed and went to a little benefit show at Pius which was AMAZING. Got picked up by the guys, went out to Pizza Shuttle, had a fuckin blast the entire night. Man, what an awesome day.
